Luckily, its stats receive a healthy boost when you evolve it. As far as stats go, Abra severely lacks Attack and Defense powers, but excels in the Speed and Special departments. Note that a Kadabra (or Alakazam) evolved from an Abra is usually much stronger and faster, so be sure to raise yours from ground up. Your best chance is to put it to sleep or bind it with Wrap-type moves, until you have lowered its HP enough to catch it. A wild Abra can be hard to catch since it immediately teleports away from danger. The only problem is that you'll need a friend to get Alakazam (it evolves by trading). Tips: While it may not be an impressive Psychic Pokemon at first, it later evolves into the more powerful Kadabra (at level 16) and finally the Psychic powerhouse Alakazam.
